MARKZTOOLS FUNCTIONS
MarkzTools 5 is an XTension that can be used to prevent corrupted QuarkXPress documents, overcoming the dreaded "Bad file format [70], [39] and [108]." You can verify your saved documents, so you will immediately know when the integrity of your file is suspect. Furthermore, you can first save a temporary copy of your document before saving the original document, so that in the event something goes wrong during the “save” process, you will still have the
temporary file available for recovery.
MarkzTools 5 is a QuarkXPress XTension which is comprised of 7 modules:
• Conversion Module
• Salvage Module
• Verification Module
• Safety Save Module
• Scavenge Text Module
• Version Keeper Module
• Gray Previews Module
MARKZTOOLS 5 ELEMENTS
The Conversion Module allows you to open and convert higher version documents within lower versions of QuarkXPress.
The Salvage Module allows you to salvage and open badly damaged documents which QuarkXPress is unable to open due to errors such as “Bad File Format,” “Out of Memory,” “End of File” and so forth.
The Verification Module allows you to verify saved documents so you can immediately know when the integrity of your document file is suspect.
The Safety Save Module allows you to first save a temporary copy of your document before actually saving the original document so that in the event something goes wrong, such as the network going down while saving, you will still have the “temporary” file available for recovery.
The Scavenge Text Module allows you to extract text stories from a document file. This function can be used as a last resort if the file is badly corrupted and its page layout data cannot be salvaged.
The Version Keeper Module can be used to warn you whenever you are about to save a lower version document up to a higher version.
The Gray Previews Module allows you to convert your picture previews into simple gray pictures which can greatly reduce the document’s file size on your hard drive. Pictures can be easily updated at any time. in the future with their original full
color preview.
