Das System wurde benutzt, um einen Xerox 8954 Serie III 300dpi Plotter und einen 8954 Serie II Plotter 200dpi
anzusteuern.

Die Xerox 8954 Maschinen sind nicht im Preis enthalten.

Zusammen mit diesen Maschinen wurde das System auch als "Cactus Printer" verkauft.

Die Xerox 8954 Maschinen eignen sich sowohl für den Druck auf Outdoorpapier und Affichenpapier für Großplakate (18/1), als auch für den Indoorbereich. Die Drucke sind bis zu 7 Jahern UV beständig und auf entsprechendem Papier, bestens für den Outdooreinsatz geeignet.

ORIS Works ist die Basis für den Start und die Weiterverfolgung dokumentbezogener, automatisch ablaufender Prozesse. Viele Routinearbeiten können mit ORIS Works mühelos automatisiert werden. Das zugrundeliegende Hotfolder-Prinzip ordnet einem Verzeichnis ihrer Festplatte - oder einem beliebigen Verzeichnis im Netz - eine Workflow-Station in Form einer konfigurierbaren Anwendung zu. Alle Stationen eines Workflows können mit ORIS Works in einer Kette verbunden werden. Start, Ablauf und Ergebnis eines Workflows werden mit ORIS Works ebenso festgelegt wie ereignisgesteuerte oder namensbezogene Verzweigungen. Für viele Anwendungen sind von CGS vordefinierte Hotfolder erhältlich. Zum Beispiel:

Distributing PostScript Interpretation and Exposure Output on Several Delta Technology PCs

The option for the import and export of Delta Lists
and Delta Documents lets you separate PostScript
interpretation and the generation of Delta Lists from
screening and output. The Delta Lists and Delta Documents
are generated and exported from a Delta Technology
PC which is not connected to a Delta Tower or
imagesetter (Delta export station, or ”Delta PrepStation")
and then sent to another Delta Technology PC
which has a Delta Tower (output workstation) by
means of the network or data carrier. This means that
the output workstation is not busy with PostScript
interpretation; as a result, the exposure performance
is high, very reliable and the time required can be calculated.
Generally, there are two workflow variants for
importing and exporting Delta Lists and Delta Documents,
depending on whether the exported Delta
Lists and Delta Documents are transported via a network
or via data carriers.

Offline Printing with Exported Delta Lists and Delta Documents

In this variant of offline printing, Delta Lists and
Delta Documents are generated offline at a Delta
export station, for example in a layout studio, and are
subsequently exported to a data carrier. When the
data are to be output, they are brought to a typesetting
studio where they are imported and exposed at a
Delta Technology PC with a Delta Tower and imagesetter.
This workflow means that the output at the studio is
very quick, reliable, and cost-efficient since the errorprone
and time-consuming PostScript interpretation,
the generation of the Delta Lists and trapping, if any,
have already been performed in the layout studio.
The exported Delta Lists and Delta Documents can
also be saved to data carriers and output again at a
later point in time. Note: Delta Technology allows exported Delta Documents/
Delta Lists to be examined before they are
imported. The special program for this purpose, Delta
Document Viewer, can be found in the Delta Technology
Program Group. Delta Document Viewer can be
started either from the program group (or the Delta
Technology Start menu) or from the Delta Printmanager.
This is done by first double-clicking on the job in
the appropriate job list. The Job Information
dialog box opens. When this dialog box is opened, the
key combination Alt+V will call the Delta Document
Viewer. The Delta Document Viewer offers a variety of
ways to examine the various characteristics of the
Delta Documents/Delta Lists. Further details are given
in the Delta Document Viewer online-help.


Networking of several Delta Technology PCs

In larger work groups, the workload of the Delta
Technology PC may be quite high (CPU(s), hard disk
access), especially if complex operations such as trapping are performed. At such peak times, the Delta
Tower might not receive Delta Lists and the imagesetter
not be utilized optimally as a result.

In such cases, it is better to generate the Delta Lists
and Delta Documents at external Delta export stations,
to export them then and to transfer them via
network to the Delta output workstation. This workflow
can be configured in such a way that the data are
automatically imported and exported. Such a configuration
where several Delta export stations are linked
to one output workstation ensures a high degree of
utilization of the imagesetter.

When planning your hardware configuration, make
sure that the network connections between the Delta
Technology PCs allow the highest possible data transfer
rates since the Delta Lists can sometimes be very
large. For this reason, a fast network, such as Fast Ethernet
or FDDI, should be selected when linking the
Delta Technology PCs. Furthermore, if more than two
Delta Technology PCs are involved, a switching hub
must be integrated into the network. This regulates
the data flow in the network so that the various network
lines are only busy with the data actually transferred
between an export station and the output
workstation. Only a fast network, if necessary with a
switching hub, will give you the performance
required for a smooth workflow within the entire
configuration.

Configuration of the Delta Printmanager for an Offline Printing Workflow

Various requirements must be met when setting up a
workflow for the import and export of Delta Lists and
Delta Documents. The different steps in the configuration
of such a workflow are explained briefly below.

Generating an Output Profile
Before an export directory can be set up in Delta
Printmanager , the export directory must be adapted
to the output device on which the exported Delta
Lists are to be output. This adaptation is carried out
using co-called ”output profiles". A few standard output
profiles are supplied with the Delta Technologysoftware;
however, it is basically better (or required in
the case of those recorders for which a standard output
profile is not available) to generate an output profile
for the designated output device. Special characteristics
in the configuration of imagesetters can be
taken into account only by individual output profiles.
For this purpose, the Delta Control program is opened
on the output station on which the Delta Lists are to
be output. This program communicates online with
the imagesetter and can read status and configuration
information from the imagesetter. The Output
profiles dialog box is opened with File > Output profiles.
The Generate dialog box is opened by pressing the Generate
button. Enter the name that the output profile
should have in this dialog box. For consistency reasons,
the .ipr file extension should not be changed.
Exporting an Output Profile
To export the output profile, press the Export button
to open the Export Output Profiles dialog box.

Here, select the path under which the output profile
is to be saved, e.g. drive A:\ if the output profile is to
be transferred by diskette to the Delta export station.
Importing an Output Profile
The output profile saved to diskette is imported to the
export station with the same procedure, i.e. Delta Control
program, File > Output Profiles menu item and
Import button.

In this way, as many different output profiles as
desired can be imported to the export station and
saved. The output profiles are now available for
recorder adaptation in Delta Printmanager.
Note: A few output profiles are supplied as defaults
with the Delta Tec software. However, these profiles
do not contain any special settings such as header or
footer punch parameters. Therefore, specially
adapted output profiles should always be used, if possible.
